The Manager of Finance provides analytical support to Freshway Finance including financial planning, analysis, budgeting, and reporting. Manages the accounting functions and department at Freshway Foods and Freshway Logistics in order to achieve company goals.

This position has been segmented as Onsite meaning the work is completed 100% onsite at the Sidney, OH location.

Responsibilities:

  • Overall leadership and management of department related accounting and financial responsibilities.

  • Prepares financial and operations reports, including, but not limited to, budgets, forecasts, and efficiency and productivity reports that can be used as analysis and decision-making tools.

  • Regularly communicate with the Freshway President on financial reporting and overall performance.

  • Collaborate with Corporate Finance Leadership on accounting activities, company performance and budgeting items.

  • Champions internal controls by working directly with operations, sales, and administration teams to identify and prioritize initiatives that optimize core business functions and advances company goals.

  • Prepare reports and lead discussions that capture profit, plan vs. actual, customer credits, direct cost, and other accounting related items.

  • Manage all closings including preparation of audited internal and external financial statements.

  • Produce weekly financial statements and report for management.

  • Plans and executes cash flow activities.

  • Works with outside counter parties on financial matters (auditors, banks, government filings).

  • Review and report variances between project budgets and actual cost.

  • Create and maintain procedures within the accounting department.

  • Lead, Coach, Motivate, and develop team members within the accounting department.

  • Manage department manpower, overtime, and schedule.

  • Lead team meetings communicating issues and providing training along with general information.

  • Work cross functionally with multiple departments, including quality, human resources, and other groups.

  • Build high performing team through coaching, counselling, and when performance does not meet expectations responsible for corrective action for improvement.

  • As requested, provide food safety training and/or resources to ensure employees know how to handle food safely and attend trainings.

  • Comply with food safety practices and all applicable requirements as they pertain to SQF and that are maintained.

  • Ensure employees are informed and held accountable for their food safety and regulatory responsibilities.

  • Ensure employees are positively encouraged and required to notify management about actual or potential food safety issues.

  • Ensure employees are empowered to act to resolve food safety issues within their scope of work.

  • Support company driven food safety improvement initiatives.

Relationships:

  • Internal: Required interaction with all employees of responsibility throughout the company.

  • External: Required interaction with customers and other service providers.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5 years of accounting and/or financial analysis experience, preferably in a leadership role.

  • Prior experience supervising and accounting, financial analysis, staff.

  • Advanced analytical skills, an ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, meet tight deadlines, prioritize workload, and produce results

  • Advanced skills using MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).

  • Prioritizing/Organization/Multi-tasking skills. Able to organize work and meet deadlines without regular guidance.

  • Results oriented; Attention to detail. Regularly provide work that is accurate, thorough, and consistent.

  • Communication skills. Verbal and Written skills are clear and concise.

  • Advanced analytical skills, an ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, meet tight deadlines, prioritize workload, and produce results

  • Problem solving – solves problems mostly independently; some of which are complex.

  • Independent thinking – manages assigned tasks with little direction.

  • Team participation – collaborates well with team members and other work associates.

  • Interpersonal skills – has established strong working relationships with others.

  • Able to utilize business intelligence tools.

  • Manipulates data using SQL queries as needed for analysis.

  • Uses advanced formulas in Excel to conduct analysis and create financial models.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related analytical field required or equivalent experience
