Basic Purpose-

The Director will be responsible for leading large transportation department in delivering outstanding service to a broad customer base at the most efficient cost.

Description-

The Director will be responsible for leading a large transportation department in delivering outstanding service to a broad customer base at the most efficient cost. The team consists of over 175 unionized delivery drivers, as well as union and non-union support staff and a developing management team. The primary responsibilities include:

  • Lead the development and implementation of procedures and practices to support our medium and long term operational goals

  • Oversee day-to-day operations; deliver high customer service in a cost-effective manner

  • Ensure all safety practices are fully implemented and adhered to

  • Ensure that product is delivered in a professional and high-quality manner that is in full compliance with all regulations

  • Manage and motivate a large team of highly diverse union & non-union individuals

  • Manage and be accountable for all transportation assets and department operating budget.

Qualifications-

Must have:

  • Minimum 5 yrs experience in transportation/logistics industry, with at least five years manager level accountability

  • Demonstrated experience leading, managing and developing teams

  • Highly customer service focused

  • Self motivated and results oriented

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong analysis and problem solving skills

  • P&L and forecasting experience

  • Ability to develop and deliver creative & effective solutions

  • Demonstrated ability to work well with others and build consensus

  • Comfortable multi-tasking in a complex, metrics-driven environment

  • Ability to successfully manage & deliver complex projects

  • Flexibility and ability to adapt to/lead change

  • Knowledge of DOT, OSHA and other regulatory policies

Strongly Desired

: - Management of remote teams

  • Experience in other business functions

  • Knowledge of Transportation Industry best practices & techniques

  • Computer literate with strong PC skills
