The Senior Counsel, Field Operations, is responsible for providing practical, timely, and high-quality legal services to the Region business team, including Sales, Marketing, Human Resources, Supply Chain, and Operations. The ultimate responsibility of this position is to facilitate the business objectives of the Company by providing timely and effective legal support to the respective Region, and to minimize potential legal exposure and risk.
Role can be virtual, must live in the Midwest or Northeast due to travel.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
With the oversight of Asst General Counsel - Field Ops, provides legal support and advice to Region leadership and Area staff on matters including HR/personnel matters, contract formation and interpretation, regulatory oversight and compliance, investigations, and litigation/dispute resolution.
Provides advice and counseling to Human Resources on all aspects of employment law.
Analyzes complex commercial/business concepts and identifies relevant legal issues and related, real-world risks; provides prompt, clear and practical legal analysis, advice, and solutions; and generally assists the business in achieving its goals.
Utilizes high-level communication skills, both oral and written, to effectively communicate with various levels of staff and management, and in various settings.
Advises, counsels, and actively participates in the development of regional and corporate procedures, practices, and systems that support business objectives, mitigate risks, and facilitate a culture of compliance.
Exercises sound legal judgment while acting as a key partner for internal business stakeholders; acts independently and prioritizes tasks while taking into account relevant risk, business and objectives, and Asst General Counsel input.
Juris Doctor from an ABA accredited law school.
Licensed to practice law and in good standing under the Bar of any state that enables admission to practice as in-house counsel.
Related Experience :
- 3+ years legal experience, with an emphasis on labor and employment
Self-motivated, tactical, innovative, strategic, detail-oriented and able to provide high quality and timely work product with an understanding of the issues and business-focused strategies.
Foster an in-depth understanding of labor and employment issues affecting the foodservice industry, including employment discrimination laws and OSHA, FLSA, ADA and DOT regulation and compliance.
Able to manage multiple projects and work successfully in a fast-paced environment under time constraints.
Excellent interpersonal skills, with an ability to inspire trust and confidence with stakeholders at all levels.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly and concisely articulate complex legal concepts to a lay audience.
Proven ability to incisively and pragmatically evaluate issues, and independently make decisions regarding complex legal issues with minimal supervision.
Skilled in interactions which involve contentious situations, negotiations, or influencing and garnering support for issues or projects.
Working knowledge of U.S. regulatory requirements governing the sale of goods and services to federal and state funded organizations, including U.S. anti-kickback, anti-bribery and antitrust laws, preferred but not required.
Ability and willingness to travel overnight. Up to 30% travel.
